The ‘Truck of the Future 2050’ Design Competition was launched to celebrate the 200,000th Volvo truck to be registered in the UK since the company began its operations in the British market in 1967.
The competition is open to residents of UK and Ireland of all ages, with three different age-categories: up to 11 years old, 11 to 18 years and over 18 years.
The brief is to create a long-haul or regional distribution truck, configured for the UK road transport industry, featuringĀ creative solutions and a thoughtful approach for incorporating specifications, safety features and systems to reduce environmental impact, all targeted for the year 2050.
Each entry must include sketches of the cab interior as well as the vehicle’s exterior and a brief explanation of the thinking behind its features.
The submission deadline is Friday October 3rd, 2014.
There will be one winner for each age category. All winners will be awarded a visit to meet the Volvo Trucks Design Team in Gothenburg, where they will see their entries displayed in the Design Studio. The visit is planned for December 2014.
The results will be announced by Friday 10th October 2014 and there will be a UK based prize giving ceremony.
